Ghost Rider (Robbie Reyes)

Chain-Swinging Hellfire Bruiser

Ghost Rider Robbie Reyes power guide for MARVEL Tōkon Fighting Souls. Chain attacks, Hell Charger specials and tag tips.

Vengeance rides — and it doesn't ask for directions.

Who Is Ghost Rider in MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls?

This isn’t Johnny Blaze on a motorcycle — this is Robbie Reyes and his Hell Charger, the Ghost Rider who drives a flaming muscle car through the streets of East LA. In MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls, Robbie brings a completely different energy to the roster. He’s young, he’s furious, and Arc System Works has given him a visual design that drips with hellfire and menace. The chains alone are a visual spectacle — every swing leaves trails of flame that light up the stage.

What makes Robbie particularly interesting for Tōkon is his range profile. His chains give him normals that reach nearly half-screen, occupying a space between true zoners like Storm and close-range brawlers like Wolverine. He’s a power character who doesn’t have to earn his way in — those chains let him threaten you from distances where most power characters are helpless.

Playstyle and Archetype

Ghost Rider is a power archetype character — big damage, big normals, and a gameplan built around converting fewer interactions into larger rewards. He won’t touch you as often as Spider-Man, but when he does, it hurts significantly more. One clean combo from Robbie could take 40% of a health bar, especially if it ends in a Wall Break.

His chains define his neutral. Expect long-range normals that swing in wide arcs, covering horizontal and sometimes vertical space. These normals are probably slow on startup compared to rushdown characters, but their range and disjointed hitboxes (the chain hits you but you can’t hit the chain back) compensate. Spacing at the tip of his chain is where Ghost Rider thrives.

The Hell Charger adds a unique wrinkle. Trailer footage suggested a move where Robbie summons his car for a charging attack. Whether this is a regular special, a super, or a unique mechanic is unclear, but the concept of a full-screen vehicular assault in a fighting game is exactly the kind of thing ArcSys excels at making work.

In the tag system, Ghost Rider’s massive damage makes him an excellent follow-up to lighter characters. A rushdown character opens the opponent up with mix-ups, tags Robbie in, and he converts the opening into devastating damage. That sequence — scramble into tag into power combo — is probably the ideal flow for a team with Ghost Rider on it.

Signature Moves and Specials (Expected)

Speculation based on trailers and Ghost Rider’s comic identity.

Chain Lash — A forward-reaching chain swing that covers massive horizontal distance. Probably his go-to poke and the foundation of his neutral game. Multiple versions at different angles (ground, air, anti-air) would make sense given ArcSys’ design philosophy.

Hellfire Burst — A close-range explosion of hellfire. Likely has slow startup but functions as his combo ender and close-range deterrent. Opponents who rush past the chains eat fire.

Hell Ride — Ghost Rider summons the Hell Charger for a charging attack. Could be a forward-rushing special with armor, an install that changes his movement, or a super. Whatever it is, expect it to carry opponents across the screen — perfect for Wall Breaks.

Spirit of Vengeance — A command grab or proximity move where Robbie channels the Spirit of Vengeance directly. In past games, Ghost Rider had the Penance Stare; Robbie’s version might function similarly as a powerful but slow throw that chunks health.

Penance Chain (Super) — A chain-based super that locks the opponent in hellfire chains. Based on the Soul Gauge, likely his level-1 — dramatic, damaging, and great for combo finishing.

Hell on Wheels (Expected Level-3) — Robbie goes full Hell Charger for a cinematic vehicular finisher. ArcSys rendering a flaming muscle car smashing through an opponent in their cel-shaded style? That’s a poster moment.

Tag and Assist Synergy

Ghost Rider’s expected Chain Lash assist would provide enormous range coverage. A chain that swings half-screen behind the point character creates a safety net against approaches and extends combos from unusual distances. This kind of assist is particularly valuable for rushdown characters who are already in the opponent’s face — the chain adds pressure from a completely different angle.

On tag-in, Robbie wants to come in when there’s already a confirm happening. His raw neutral is good thanks to chain range, but his real value is converting someone else’s hit into Ghost Rider-level damage. Tag chains (pun intended) that start with a faster character’s light confirm and end with Robbie’s heavy chain combo into Wall Break are probably his optimal tag routes.

His Wall-Break potential is among the highest on the roster. Chain normals push opponents far, hellfire specials carry them further, and the Hell Charger — whatever form it takes — is practically designed to smash through stage walls. Robbie is the character you bring when you want to unlock your full 4v4 team as fast as possible.

Who to Pair Him With

Ghost Rider wants fast characters who set up his damage.

Spider-Man — Spidey catches them, Robbie punishes them. Peter’s light confirms into Ghost Rider’s chain combos create some of the highest-damage tag routes on the roster. The range difference between them means opponents are never safe at any distance.

Ms. Marvel — Both characters dominate mid-range with extended normals. Together, they create a wall of disjointed attacks that makes approaching miserable. Kamala’s stretchy limbs and Robbie’s chains — good luck getting through that.

Carnage — Two aggressive street-level fighters with symbiote tendrils and hellfire chains covering overlapping but distinct ranges. The visual chaos alone makes this pairing worth trying. See the beginner’s guide for fundamental team-building advice.

Tips for Beginners

Ghost Rider is approachable despite his power archetype because his chains solve the problem most beginners have: reaching the opponent. You don’t have to learn complex approach patterns — just swing the chain. Focus on learning his chain normal ranges and recognizing which distance is safe for you and dangerous for the opponent. Practice basic chain combos into Hellfire Burst for solid damage, and use his expected defense options when faster characters get inside his range. You’ll need to learn when to block rather than swing — a whiffed chain is a free punish.

Tips for Competitive Players

Ghost Rider’s competitive value is about damage efficiency and Wall Break conversion rate. Every hit needs to convert into maximum damage and ideally a stage transition. Lab his optimal chain combo routes from every starter, paying special attention to which combos wall-carry versus which do raw damage — sometimes position matters more than health. His assist will be evaluated on range and blockstun; if Chain Lash assist is plus on block, expect him on half the teams at launch. Study the tag system deeply to understand when tagging Robbie in versus keeping him as an assist is correct.
