Marvel Tōkon Storm Guide Details Tempest Aerial Control and Opening Cinematic
Storm takes center stage in the official Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls character guide, revealing how her Tempest mechanic rules the skies before the August release.
Arc System Works dropped the official character guide for Storm, giving competitive players their first deep look at her unique, flight-based archetype. Following the release of the game’s high-octane opening cinematic, this moveset showcase details how the weather goddess commands the neutral game using wind, lightning, and her signature Tempest mechanic.
Mastering the Tempest Mechanic
As a core member of the Unbreakable X-Men squad, Storm functions as a premier zoning and keep-away character. While we saw some of her basic wind movements in a previous Storm breakdown, the new footage explains the Tempest system in detail.
Tempest allows Storm to actively alter the trajectory and speed of her projectiles and aerial dashes. By manipulating wind currents, she can turn standard straight-line lightning bolts into angled traps or accelerate her air dashes to bait out early anti-air attempts. This makes her neutral game incredibly frustrating to deal with, as opponents can never quite tell if a wind gust is a blockstring setup or a frame trap designed to bait a counter-attack. Her flight mode remains a central tool, enabling her to float just above the opponent’s maximum reach while chipping away at their Vital Gauge.
Tag Team Synergy and the Assemble Gauge
In a 4v4 format, a dedicated zoner needs to do more than just run away. Storm excels at creating space for her teammates. When swapped out, her assist actions flood the screen with electric projectiles, keeping the opposition blocking while your active point character advances.
Managing the Assemble Gauge is key to maximizing her utility. By utilizing quick tags, players can call Storm to cover a recovery animation or extend a BNB combo into a wall break. Furthermore, her ability to build the Skill Gauge from a safe distance ensures that high-damage EX moves and team-up supers are always ready. Understanding how the tag system works is crucial to fitting her into your rotation, especially when pairing her with close-range rushdown fighters like Wolverine who benefit from her persistent cover fire.
Opening Cinematic and Launch Roster
The character guide arrived alongside the official opening cinematic for the game. The trailer sets the stage for the single-player Episode Mode, spotlighting the conflict between the heroes and the Knights of Doom led by the massive Champion of the Universe.
Storm is part of the 20-character confirmed roster locked in for the August 6th release. With the free open beta starting on July 24th, players will soon get to test her Tempest flight controls firsthand on both PlayStation 5 and PC.
