Arc System Works has unleashed the latest gameplay showcases for MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls ahead of its August release. The newly dropped character guides shed light on the mechanical depth of Storm and Doctor Doom, demonstrating how their zoning tools dictate the neutral game and interact with the tag team mechanics.

Storm commands the skies for Unbreakable X-Men

The official character gameplay guide for Storm details her powerful weather-manipulation kit. Functioning as a premium controller, Storm commands the neutral screen with massive gust trajectories and lightning-based keep-out tools. Her wind manipulation allows players to reposition opponents, setting up high-low mixups or creating space when the team’s shared Vital Gauge is running low.

Within the Unbreakable X-Men squad, Storm serves as an ideal partner for point-style rushdown characters. By utilizing the Assemble Gauge, players can call Storm as an assist to lock down opponents with lightning cover, allowing characters like Wolverine to close the gap safely.

Doctor Doom nullifies projectile pressure

Meanwhile, Doctor Doom’s guide showcases a distinct defensive counter designed to shut down heavy projectile strategies. His key tool is the Nullify Shield, a barrier that blocks incoming enemy fire and converts that energy back into offensive pressure.

Doom’s kit focuses on controlling vertical space and punishing hasty air approaches. By combining his flight capabilities with Nullify Shield, players can lock down the arena and generate meter for the team’s Skill Gauge, which is required to execute devastating EX attacks and team-wide supers.

Preparing for the Open Beta and Community Tournaments

These character reveals serve as preparation for the upcoming open beta, which runs from July 24 to July 26, 2026, across PlayStation 5 and PC platforms. The beta requires no sign-ups or pre-orders, giving the community its first hands-on experience with the launch cast of 20 fighters.

The competitive scene is already organizing events. Tournament organizer Tampa Never Sleeps (TNS) has officially listed its online open beta tournament scheduled for July 25, 2026. This community bracket will allow competitive players to test how how the tag system works under high-stakes tournament conditions before the full game releases on August 6, 2026.
