Release Date, Platforms, Editions & Pre-Order
Everything you need to know about MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls' release date, platforms, editions, and pre-order bonuses — launching August 6, 2026 on PS5, Steam, and Epic Games Store.
The date is locked in. MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls launches August 6, 2026 on PS5, PC via Steam, and PC via the Epic Games Store. After a year of trailers, character reveals, and growing hype from the fighting game community, we’re now less than two months from getting our hands on Arc System Works’ most ambitious project. Here’s everything confirmed about the release — platforms, editions, and what you get for pre-ordering.
Release date: August 6, 2026
The August 6 date was officially confirmed during Sony’s June 2025 showcase and reiterated across PlayStation Blog, Marvel’s official game page, and subsequent trailer drops. It hasn’t shifted since announcement, which is a good sign — delays are common in the current industry, and a locked date this close to launch suggests the game is on track.
August is historically a strong window for fighting games. It avoids the packed September–November release calendar and gives the competitive community months to develop the meta before the next major tournament cycle. ArcSys clearly planned this timing deliberately.
For the FGC specifically, an August launch means Tōkon will likely feature prominently at fall majors and potentially debut at events like TGS (Tokyo Game Show) in late September with a developed early meta. If competitive scene support is anything like what Guilty Gear -Strive- received, expect a healthy tournament circuit from day one.
Platforms
PS5
The lead platform. Sony Interactive Entertainment and PlayStation Studios are co-publishing alongside Marvel Games, which means PS5 gets priority marketing, potential exclusive content (cosmetic skins or early access to certain modes are not uncommon in these deals), and DualSense-specific features. The PS5 version will be the tournament standard at events that use consoles.
No PS4 version has been announced. ArcSys’s recent titles (Strive originally launched on PS4 but GBVS: Rising was PS5-only) suggest the studio is comfortable dropping last-gen support for newer projects. The PS5’s SSD should deliver fast loading times — important for fighting games where quick rematches keep sessions flowing.
PC (Steam)
Steam is where the competitive PC fighting game community lives. Rollback netcode (expected), community-built frame data tools, Discord integration, and the ability to run at native 4K or high refresh rates (the game engine likely caps at 60fps for gameplay but may allow higher for menus and cinematics) make Steam the platform of choice for dedicated players.
Steam’s regional pricing makes it more accessible globally, and the Steam Deck should be capable of running Tōkon based on ArcSys’s typically reasonable PC requirements. See our controls and setup guide for PC-specific optimization.
PC (Epic Games Store)
Available on Epic simultaneously with Steam. Epic occasionally offers exclusive pre-order bonuses or coupons for new releases — worth checking closer to launch. The game itself will be identical across both PC storefronts.
What about Xbox and Nintendo Switch?
No Xbox Series X/S or Nintendo Switch versions have been announced. The Sony co-publishing deal likely includes some form of platform exclusivity, at least at launch. Whether Tōkon comes to other platforms later — similar to how Final Fantasy XVI and other PlayStation-published titles eventually expanded — is unknown.
Players hoping for a portable option are limited to Steam Deck for now, which runs SteamOS and should handle the game at the expected spec requirements.

Editions
Exact edition details haven’t been fully published as of this writing. Based on ArcSys’s and Sony’s standard practices, expect a structure similar to this:
Standard Edition (expected $59.99 / $69.99)
- Base game with full roster (20+ characters)
- All launch modes including Episode Mode, online ranked and casual play, training mode, and arcade mode
- This is what most players should buy
Deluxe Edition (expected $79.99 / $89.99)
- Everything in Standard
- Season 1 Character Pass (likely 4–6 post-launch DLC fighters)
- Possible cosmetic bonuses (alternate costumes, lobby avatars)
- Worth it if you know you’ll stick with the game long-term
Collector’s Edition (expected $149.99+)
- Everything in Deluxe
- Physical items: artbook, soundtrack, character figurine or statue
- Expected to sell through PlayStation Direct and select retailers
- Limited stock — if you want this, pre-order early
These price points and contents are estimates. We’ll update with confirmed details when editions are officially listed. Check the pre-order news for the latest information.
Pre-order bonuses
Pre-ordering is expected to include:
- Early access — 3–5 days before the official August 6 launch (common for Sony-published fighters)
- Exclusive costumes — alternate skins for 1–3 launch characters. Previous ArcSys games have included classic or comic-accurate costume variants as pre-order incentives.
- In-game currency — for cosmetic shop purchases (lobby items, profile customization)
Pre-order bonuses in fighting games are almost always cosmetic. ArcSys does not lock gameplay-affecting content (characters, stages, mechanics) behind pre-orders — it would be disastrous for competitive integrity, and they know it.
Cross-play and cross-save
Cross-play between PS5 and PC has not been officially confirmed but is expected. ArcSys implemented cross-play in Guilty Gear -Strive- (after a post-launch update) and GBVS: Rising launched with it. The fighting game community expects cross-play as a baseline feature in 2026, and Tōkon’s publisher (SIE) has been increasingly supportive of cross-platform play.
Cross-save (sharing progress between PS5 and PC) is less likely at launch but possible as a post-launch update. This primarily matters for players who own the game on multiple platforms.
Regional availability
Tōkon is a global simultaneous launch. All three platforms (PS5, Steam, Epic) will release the game worldwide on August 6. Regional pricing on Steam may vary, and the Epic Games Store sometimes offers regional coupons.
Physical PS5 copies will be available at retail in North America, Europe, Japan, and other major territories. Digital pre-orders are available on all storefronts now (or will be as the date approaches — check the PlayStation Store, Steam, and Epic game pages).
The competitive calendar context
For the fighting game community, Tōkon’s August launch date positions it perfectly:
| Month | Expected event |
|---|---|
| August 2026 | Launch, early online meta, local weeklies |
| September 2026 | First major appearances at tournaments, TGS presence |
| October–November 2026 | Fall majors, established meta, potential first balance patch |
| December 2026 | Possible first DLC character, end-of-year awards consideration |
| Q1 2027 | Full competitive season underway |
ArcSys has historically supported their games with regular balance patches, DLC characters, and tournament partnerships (Arc World Tour for Guilty Gear, official tournament modes for DBFZ). Expect similar support for Tōkon, especially with PlayStation Studios’ backing.
