The recent announcement that the Samurai Outriders join the roster shook up the community, but the latest official updates finally give us a clear picture of how Eric Brooks plays. Rather than just relying on generic sword strikes, Arc System Works is leaning heavily into custom combat systems for the half-vampire hunter.

Unsealing the Muramasa: Blade’s Aggressive Rushdown

Blade brings a distinct hybrid style to the 4v4 arena. Following his training in Japan, his visual design incorporates red shoulder menpo masks, but the real highlight is his weapon: the legendary demon-slaying Muramasa sword.

Under normal circumstances, the sword remains sealed. Once Blade unleashes its true power, the blade turns red, buffing his offensive potential. His playstyle is built around high-pressure tools:

  • Arsenal: Blade transitions between Muramasa sword slashes, machine gun fire, and glaive attacks to dominate the mid-range neutral.
  • Heartstopper: This unique command tool allows Blade to throw a stake that pins the opponent in place on hit. Once connected, Blade can instantly close the distance at high speed. When this hits, the Muramasa blade glows red, boosting his offense.

The Voices Behind the Blades and Mercs

Alongside the mechanical deep dive, the official English voice cast for these dark heroes has been locked in.

  • Deadpool: The fan-favorite mercenary will be voiced once again by Nolan North, bringing his signature chaotic energy back to the Marvel grid.
  • Blade: Imari Williams is confirmed as the voice of Eric Brooks, matching the character’s cold, disciplined samurai-hunter persona.
  • Loki: Jason Spisak is set to voice the God of Mischief.
  • Shuri: Erica Luttrell will provide the English voice for the Wakandan hero.

These additions round out the thematic synergy of the Samurai Outriders team, which originally started with the reveal of Ghost Rider.

Synergy and Tag Combos

With Blade’s ability to lock down opponents using Heartstopper, players are already theorizing how he will function as a point character or a lock-down assist. Being able to pin an opponent in place makes him an ideal starter to set up high-damage tag team extensions. For players looking to maximize their active switch pressure, understanding the combo basics is going to be vital once the open beta launches.
