Community Fights Back: #TokonForAll Petition Demands PSN Account Removal for Marvel Tōkon
Marvel Tōkon fans launch the #TokonForAll petition to protest Steam region blocks in 132 countries ahead of the highly anticipated July open beta.
The PSN Storm Hits Steam
Following the initial findings that the PC version blocked in 132 countries due to PlayStation Network requirements, mainstream outlets and community hubs have verified the scale of the restriction. Steam backend updates confirm that players in region-locked territories—where official PSN service is unavailable—will be unable to purchase or access MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls on PC.
This decision has sent shockwaves through the fighting game community (FGC), raising major concerns about player pool fragmentation and matchmaking health.
#TokonForAll Petition Gains Steam
In response to the region lock, the community has mobilized. A new petition under the hashtag #TokonForAll has launched on Change.org, migrating from previous platforms to bypass user signature limits. Organized by passionate fans on Reddit and local FGC groups, the petition urges Sony Interactive Entertainment to walk back the account-linking mandate for Steam and Epic Games Store users.
Community organizers are also reminding disgruntled players to direct their feedback toward Sony rather than the developers at Arc System Works. While ASW is building the actual game mechanics, netcode, and anime visual engine, publishing policies and region distribution reside entirely under Sony’s purview.
Impending Threats to the July Open Beta
The timing of the region lock is particularly painful. The free open beta is scheduled to run from July 24 to July 26, 2026, on both PlayStation 5 and PC, offering a crucial hands-on window for players to test the game’s 4v4 tag-team dynamics.
With Steam purchases now blocked in over 130 countries, thousands of prospective PC players in these regions are expected to be locked out of the beta entirely. For a genre that thrives on matchmaking density and low-latency matchups, losing such a substantial portion of the global player base right before the August release date is a massive blow to the game’s competitive launch window.
The Long-Term Matchmaking Outlook
The restriction poses a direct threat to the longevity of the game’s online environment. If the region lock remains in place by the official release date and platforms launch on August 6, 2026, PC players in supported regions will still suffer from a significantly diminished matchmaking pool.
Fighting games rely heavily on global player density to sustain ranked queues and ensure balanced match quality. Without a resolution from Sony, the PC competitive scene for MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls faces an uphill battle from day one.
