Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls PC Version Blocked in 132 Countries Over PSN Rule
Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls faces PC purchase restrictions in 132 countries due to PSN account requirements on Steam and Epic Games Store.
Sony Interactive Entertainment is drawing heat from the PC fighting game community once again. SteamDB history reveals that MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls has been blocked from purchase in 132 countries on both Steam and Epic Games Store, ahead of its August launch.
The restriction stems from the mandatory PlayStation Network (PSN) account linking requirement on PC. Since PSN is not officially supported in over 130 regions worldwide, PC players in territories like the Philippines, Kazakhstan, and Jamaica will be locked out of purchasing the 4v4 tag fighter.
PC Purchases Locked Out Internationally
According to SteamDB listings, all digital versions of the game, including the Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate editions, now bear a “Not in 132 countries” restriction. Regional pricing structures for local currencies in these areas, such as the Philippine Peso (PHP) and Kazakhstani Tenge (KZT), have been left off the price charts entirely.
This move mirrors previous publisher decisions that drew community backlash, notably the PC release of Helldivers 2 and other recent PlayStation titles on Steam. Players who were eager to check out Arc System Works’ latest anime-styled combat systems will need to wait for an official statement, though Sony has shown little sign of reversing its PC account strategy.
What This Means for the Release
For players in supported regions, the August launch remains on track. Pre-orders are currently active for the various pre-order editions, and the official release date and platforms have not shifted.
However, local fighting game scenes in the affected regions will miss out on the initial launch build:
- The restriction prevents access to both Steam and Epic Games Store versions.
- Online match pools in Southeast Asia and parts of Europe/Asia will be fragmented.
- Even with the hype surrounding the game’s rollback netcode and the mechanical depth of characters like Magneto and Wolverine, the regional block could significantly impact the competitive player base.
